Dementia is most common in people over the age of 65, but it can affect a person at any age.

 

By 2025, it is estimated that over one million people in the UK will have a diagnosis of dementia, and almost all of us will know someone living with the condition.

Gary Burnham-Jones 
Dementia Specialist Admiral Nurse at Dementia UK

Gary Burnham-Jones joined the charity Dementia UK in 2020 to develop a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse clinic service, based in primary care in East Sussex. This service provides specialist support to families living with dementia through face-to-face, video and phone appointments, and by email. Gary has 25 years of experience in healthcare in a wide range of dementia-related roles and is currently completing an MSc in Dementia Studies.

Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses. Continually supported and developed by Dementia UK, they provide life-changing support for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.
