Medline International B.V. has officially received its Wholesale Distribution Authorisation (WDA) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP) certification, marking an important milestone in in strengthening its pharmaceutical distribution capabilities in Europe.

A Wholesale Distribution Authorization (WDA) is a European regulatory license required for companies that legally procure, store, and distribute medicinal products, ensuring full compliance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards for quality, safety and traceability. Reinforcing our commitment to support healthcare systems, this certification supports the safe, compliant, and timely delivery of essential products to reach customers. Instead of relying on a manufacturer arrangement for select product categories, we moved to a Medline owned distribution model.

A cross-functional achievement

Reaching this milestone required strong collaboration across teams and countries. Colleagues from Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, Complaints and Vigilance Operations and Warehouse, Human Resources, IT, FI Inventory Control, Customer Service worked closely together to design and implement a compliant distribution model.

This achievement reflects Medline’s ability to bring together expertise across functions, aligning processes, governance, and operations to meet complex regulatory requirements while continuing to support customers effectively.

“We are proud to have received this official license and certification for the Netherlands. It complements our pharmaceutical wholesale license in Germany and underscores our ongoing commitment to reliably supporting our partners.” Zeren Cavdar, Director of QARA EMEA. “By ensuring compliant handling, traceability, and recall readiness, the certification directly supports patient safety and continuity of care.”

By embedding this pharmaceutical compliance component into our operating model, Medline strengthens governance, increases process clarity, and builds a strong foundation for expanding its pharmaceutical portfolio in the future.

What this means for customers

This license ensures that product kits containing medicinal active substances are distributed to the German market through a fully authorized, compliant, and controlled supply chain.

The new model enhances reliability and safety through standardized, GDP-compliant processes and clearly defined responsibilities. In combination with the wholesale distribution authorization of Medline International Germany, it ensures a fully controlled and compliant logistics framework.

Ultimately, this directly contributes to patient safety and continuity of supply, ensuring that essential products are available where and when they are needed.
