As a leader in the healthcare industry, we consider it our responsibility to pass on a preserved planet to future generations. That is why we are trying to make progress on achieving environmental goals. Part of our ‘green’ strategy involves the sustainability of the buildings that are part of our operations. Our recently completed facility in Slovakia is no exception.

Within Medline Europe, the green portfolio of buildings currently includes the distribution centre in Kleve, Germany, which is certified by the German Council for Sustainable Buildings (DGNB), and the production facility in Châteaubriant, France, which holds the Passivhaus certification. The most recent addition is Medline’s production facility in Partizánske, Slovakia, which recently obtained the BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) certification. The BREEAM certificate recognises a number of the building’s achievements, one of which is that it reduces energy consumption by 30 to 40% compared to a classic ‘non-green’ building, which only meets basic legal requirements. The BREEAM building also provides a work environment with climatic comfort, which increases employee satisfaction and productivity.

Medline chose to partner with the builder STRABAG to obtain the BREEAM certificate, which is one more way we are making progress in fulfilling our green goals within Medline Europe. You can find out more about our environmental initiatives here.
