Medline International B.V. Awarded EcoVadis Bronze Medal

For Medline International, independent third-party bodies are important to validate our sustainable practices. This year, Medline International B.V. has been awarded a Bronze Medal following its first regionally focused EcoVadis sustainability assessment. The Bronze Medal is a recognition awarded to the top 35% of companies assessed by EcoVadis issued in July 2026, and valid until 31 July 2027. The assessment evaluated Medline International’s sustainability management system across its operations and subsidiaries across Europe, Asia, and Oceania.

The assessment helps demonstrate Medline International’s corporate sustainability management approach, supporting customers as they increasingly incorporate sustainability considerations into supplier selection and procurement decisions. It also provides an independent third-party recognition of the processes and practices in place to manage sustainability topics across the business.

EcoVadis is a globally recognised sustainability rating provider that evaluates companies on how they manage environmental, social and ethical issues. Its methodology assesses policies, management practices, actions, performance indicators, certifications and public reporting across four themes: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement, while considering a company’s industry, size and geographic location. The methodology is aligned with internationally recognised frameworks, including the United Nations Global Compact, International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and ISO 26000 guidance.

A Collaborative Effort

Preparing for the assessment required extensive collaboration across multiple departments throughout the organisation, including Sustainability, Human Resources and Learning, Compliance, Finance, Information Technology (IT), Quality & Regulatory Affairs (QA/RA), Ethical Sourcing, Privacy Operations, Environment, Health & Safety (EHS), Service and Solutions Division, Manufacturing and Commercial Teams.

The process involved gathering and reviewing documentation from across the business to provide a comprehensive view of Medline International’s sustainability management practices. In addition to supporting the assessment, the exercise helped identify opportunities to further strengthen existing programs and processes.

“By strongly connecting sustainability with corporate structures and management systems, this assessment helped drive discussions that are relevant from strategic, operational, and excellence perspectives. This process has enabled more concrete, constructive, and focused on actionable improvements at Medline International.” says Oliver Watts, Sustainability Director, Medline EMEA.

Benchmarking Sustainability Management Performance

The assessment completed in June 2026, identified several areas of strength within Medline International’s sustainability management system. Among companies assessed in the manufacturing of medical and dental instruments and supplies industry, Medline International’s ranked in the top 15% overall.

EcoVadis evaluated the maturity of Medline International’ss sustainability management system, recognising the policies, actions and reporting practices in place across the four assessed themes: Environment, Ethics, Labour & Human Rights, and Sustainable Procurement. Areas of strength included the latter two.

As a first-time participant, Medline International views the assessment as an important benchmark for measuring progress and informing future investments. The findings provide valuable insight into current strengths while highlighting areas for increased cross-departmental collaboration and further integration of sustainability across the organisation.

The assessment also supports opportunities for growth in Medline International’s reporting and due diligence practices, helping us respond to stakeholder expectations and prepare for evolving regulatory requirements, including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

Achieving a Bronze Medal on our EcoVadis rating marks an important milestone in Medline International’s sustainability journey. Encouraged by the results, we recognise that sustainability requires continuous improvement and is an ongoing joint effort across the business. By building on these findings, our focus remains on promoting a sustainable and resilient healthcare supply chain that supports healthcare providers and communities.
