Medline International celebrates its 10th consecutive year of Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) partnership, marking a decade of continued work on responsible business practices, ethical manufacturing and supply chain integrity. Maintaining this partnership over the past decade demonstrates Medline's efforts to create products responsibly while promoting fairness, transparency and accountability and striving to uphold high working standards. This milestone reinforces Medline's belief that quality healthcare products should be supported by ethical sourcing practices and uphold the fundamental human rights of workers throughout our supply chain.
A Decade of Progress
As customer expectations around transparency grow, this partnership shows that collaboration can help drive meaningful progress. Over the past decade, I'm really proud of the effort that we've made with WRAP to move towards meaningful progress while supporting quality, compliance, and respect for workers,” said Oliver Watts, Sustainability Director EMEA.
What is WRAP?
Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) is the only independent global organisation of its kind focused on advancing safe, lawful, humane, and ethical practices in manufacturing sites. The organisation works with manufacturing facilities across the globe to support and strengthen alignment with internationally recognised standards related to labour practices, workplace conditions, environmental responsibility, and legal business operations.
Through assessments and regular social compliance audits, WRAP certification provides a framework for manufacturers to demonstrate their commitment to responsible production practices and strengthen transparency and accountability among customers and partners.
How WRAP Evaluates Supply Chains
WRAP certification is based on a comprehensive set of 12 principles that include the spirit of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the United Nations (UN) Declaration on Human Rights, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)’s Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.
These principles address:
Compliance with Laws and Workplace Regulations
Prohibition of forced labour
Prohibition of child labour
Prohibition of harassment and abuse
Compensation and benefits
Hours of work
Health and safety
Freedom of association and collective bargainingr
Environment
Customs Compliance
Security
Through this process, WRAP promotes accountability, transparency and continuous improvement in responsible manufacturing practices.
Why These Standards Matter to Medline and Our Customers
These principles support our approach to ethical sourcing and help translate our principles into clear expectations for manufacturing practices across the supply chain. Encouraging adherence to labour laws helps protect workers' rights and supports fair and lawful employment practices throughout the supply chain. Eliminating forced labour and child labour is critical to safeguarding human dignity and preventing exploitation in global manufacturing operations.
Fair wages and reasonable working hours contribute to employee well-being, productivity, and long-term workforce stability. Likewise, promoting freedom of association gives workers a voice and helps create open channels for communication and collaboration.
Health and safety standards are equally important. By supporting safe working environments, Medline helps reduce workplace risks and helps individuals involved in manufacturing its products can perform their jobs in secure and healthy conditions.
When manufacturing facilities comply with environmental requirements, manage waste responsibly, and actively minimise their environmental impact through sustainable practices such as reducing, reusing, and recycling, it can help reduce environmental risks, prevent pollution, and also supports more sustainable operations.
Together, these standards help create a resilient and transparent supply chain that supports ethical decision-making while maintaining the trust of customers, employees, suppliers, and communities.
