Medline announces collaboration agreement with Keep A Breast Europe
Unique partnership to further improve breast cancer care
As part of our breast cancer awareness activities, Medline International BV is pleased to announce a new partnership with Keep A Breast Europe (KABE), an American nonprofit breast cancer association with an international affiliate in Europe. Keep A Breast Europe is dedicated to empowering young people around the world with breast health education and support.
KABE has developed a mobile application called "Check Yourself," which is designed to educate young people about breast health education and to encourage regular self-checks. The application harmoniously supports Medline breast cancer awareness campaigns. As part of the collaboration agreement, Medline will donate funds to KABE from each Generation Pink® exam glove case sold to promote and sponsor the development and translation of the "Check Yourself” app into German, Spanish and Italian, expanding the app outside of English, French and Japanese. Breast cancer awareness has been an important cause for Medline starting with awareness initiatives over 10 years ago at the global headquarters in North America. Back in 2009, Medline Industries, Inc. turned everyday exam gloves from green to pink. This sparked the beginning of the company’s unique breast cancer education campaign. The pink gloves help take the scary out of detection exams and remind nurses about the importance of creating a comfortable, friendly and open dialogue with patients.
In 2016 Medline made a very conscious decision to create more awareness for breast cancer through launching a Pink Glove Photo Competition on Facebook which has received more than 12,000 Facebook likes in total. Administrators, nurses, breast cancer survivors and community members donned pink exam gloves to take a picture for breast cancer awareness and people around the globe voted for their favourite photo. The new partnership with KABE is the first of many activities in 2017, including another Pink Glove Photo Competition, to continue raising breast cancer awareness.
