Why go latex-free?

Concern over the complications latex allergies can cause patients and staff is driving many healthcare facilities to eliminate the use of latex gloves. There are many facts for you to be aware of:

• It is estimated that as many as 18% of healthcare workers¹ may be allergic to latex compared to 1% to 6% of the general population².

• Continued exposure to latex increases your risk of developing an allergy.

• Latex surgical gloves can lead to many hidden costs, including theatre teardowns, contaminated disposable products and implants, re-sterilisation for reusable products, and worker’s compensation claims.

Synthetic polyisoprene

In the past, achieving a latex-free environment was challenging because previous synthetic materials like Neoprene did not provide the comfort and performance of traditional latex gloves.

Synthetic polyisoprene is a man-made material that has a molecular structure similar to natural rubber latex, offering the fit, feel, comfort, and performance that surgeons have come to expect from traditional latex gloves.
