Medline announces the winner of the 2016 Pink Glove Photo Competition

Unique campaign promotes breast cancer awareness through photos

Arnhem, the Netherlands, October 21, 2016 - Medline’s first Pink Glove Photo Competition has received more than 12,000 Facebook likes in total and the winner is now declared. Administrators, nurses, breast cancer survivors and community members dressed in pink exam gloves to take a picture for breast cancer awareness and people around the globe have been voting for their favourite photo.

Medline’s corporate mission is to improve the lives of patients and people by creating breast cancer awareness and promoting early detection. This year Medline made a very conscious decision to create more awareness for breast cancer through launching a Pink Glove Photo competition on Facebook. The voting period lasted from October 3 to October 19 and in total, 5 different countries (Spain, Greece, France, Germany and Italy) participated, submitting 9 pink photos. The competition was fierce with a steep increase of likes during the last two weeks of the competition, but the likes show a clear winner. Medline is pleased to announce that the photo submission from Clìnica Bofill from Girona, Spain has won with more than 6,000 likes.

Clìnica Bofill submitted a powerful image and essay, “this photograph represents being alive and wanting to continue feeling alive! So after winning the battle, the perfect imperfections that are left on my body do not make me want to stop smiling and loving what life represents. I am happy – I am missing a breast – so what? A caress, a kiss, a hug – the best emotional medicine you can receive. I love life!”

The winning image is now featuring as the cover photo on the contest Facebook page. The image will also be used for all 2017 promotional materials for the next Pink Glove Photo competition.
