SUN & WIND ENERGY, a publication based in Germany covering renewable energy sources, has featured Medline’s warehouse in Kleve and its use of green electricity created by solar energy in a recent press release. The warehouse’s roof is home to 12,000 square metres of solar panels, which produced about 900,000 kWh of energy in 2017. This is enough energy to power the entire logistics and IT departments, facility lighting and even the forklifts. Kleve’s solar panel project contributes to Medline’s sustainability goals, and the facility has been awarded the gold certificate by the German Sustainable Building Council. March 8 is International Women’s Day (IWD). It is a day for celebrating and promoting gender equality all around the world, and also here at Medline. This year’s theme is ‘Press for Progress’, encouraging all of us to commit to a gender parity mindset. The World Economic Forum estimates that at the current rate of progress it will take more than 200 years to achieve 100 per cent gender parity—this year’s theme aims to speed up that process.
We have started a new tradition within Medline Europe by asking our employees to pledge how they will ‘Press for Progress’ towards this important cause. The IWD’s website suggests five ways we can all commit to women’s progress.
Our employees’ pledges are visible on Medline Europe’s LinkedIn page, and Group President Tripp Amdur has personally committed to ‘challenge stereotypes and bias’ this year and beyond. Medline is proud to declare that we recognise and value the contributions of all our female employees and are committed to actively pursuing gender equality in our organisation. We invite you all to also comment on our LinkedIn page what you will do this year to promote this important cause, which is also one of the United Nations sustainable development goals (SDG 5: Gender Equality).

FAQ Logistique, a French logistics portal followed by supply chain professionals, has published the Hardis Group’s press release (in French) announcing Medline Assembly France’s adoption of its Reflex WMS (warehouse management software) at the Châteaubriant facility. Three other websites specialised in logistics software and supply chain have also covered this story. The need for this software arose with an increase in activity and the desire for additional capacity improvement.
Consulting company, digital services and software publisher Hardis Group supports its customers in the transformation of their business model, their digital value chain and logistics execution. The Reflex WMS system is 20 years in the making and will enable the new Medline warehouse to optimise its processes and the reception, storage and delivery of products. This software also allows Medline to internalise logistics activities that were previously subcontracted. So far, manufacturing project leader Loic Le Guehennec and manufacturing director Guillaume Monsallier report that optimisation, efficiency, stocking and restocking have already improved, and they foresee numerous project and learning opportunities to form an even stronger supply chain in the future.
